“Welcome to an artistic universe, straight out from the imagination of the designer.” Being inspired by her artistic grandparents, French designer Marie Duvert has set out to incorporate and combine architecture, decoration, design and fashion into her jewellery collections. Aiming to bring feminine and graphic, poetic and fresh pieces full of freedom, optimism and imagination, each piece is designed and made in France in her workshop in Limoges.
For someone not having a piece of your collection yet, what would you recommend to get as a first item? Marie Duvert: The Ark earrings are one of the best sellers of the new collection and the perfect starting point. It is a timeless piece that each woman – whether she has more a rocky or a poetic side - can identify with.
How does your creative process look like? Marie Duvert: First, there are months of doing research. Then I start creating my pieces by drawing them by hand, and later on the computer. Eventually, the pieces are laser-cut, engraved, welded and gilded. As a last step, the resin is inlayed by hand. I love working with brass and laser-cutting – the possibilities are endless! Each piece is designed and made in France in the Limoges workshop.
Where do you draw your inspiration from? Marie Duvert: My inspirations come from everything that surrounds me, from everyday things and beautiful materials such as leather, linen, wood and metal. I also draw inspiration from home and decoration magazines – decoration is my second passion besides jewellery making. After a long day, I love lounging in my garden – it’s a small green charming greenery mingling memories and childhood scents of old roses, a vineyard, lavender roses, bamboo, a garden that reveals love for the creative nature.
